Through a combination of long standing music pedagogies, new technology and a student driven curriculum we can give every student access to the powerful experience of being a composer. The main objective of this workshop is to help educators learn new, progressive techniques that are enhanced by technology and involve a community of musicians and composers. We’ll explore strategies that use technology as well as traditional classroom instruments in a way that gives students the experience of “playing” with theoretical concepts. We’ll examine how a project based composition project can meet the needs of every student in a typical music class while providing a powerful, real world experience of being a composer. Finally, we will see how in a connected world it is now feasible to have every composition performed by a live ensemble either onsite or remotely.
