Using an arduino and MAX MSP, I designed an electronic board game in which players compete and cooperate to create a composition. The game sits on a 7x7 grid, each square of which sounds a tone across 4 octaves. Each turn is scored in real time for consonance, modulation, proper voice leading, etc. The game is meant to develop composers' skills in 4 part writing, and especially to test the possibilities of modulation. I will present various considerations of the game's design (tuning, scoring, key-finding algorithm) and open the floor for demos.
