This session focuses on one approach to teaching high school students how to mix multi-track recordings. Topics include mixing pedagogy (sequence and scope), resources, and strategies to engage students’ ears and emotions in creating a balanced and interesting mix. Student work from the Audio Production classes the Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center in Columbus, OH, will be highlighted. Additionally, audience members will have the opportunity to apply the techniques presented in real time during the session. Demonstrations will be done using Pro Tools, however, the principles illustrated apply to any digital audio workstation.
