Participants are invited to join in this hands-on, dramatic workshop investigating the rich potentialities held in found objects through dramatic play and ensemble-driven operettas. Through a facilitated process-focused drama, participants will form a collective of makers, thinkers and investigators interrogating a series of problems posed through character development, writing, singing, improvisation and dance wrapped up in the physical and emotional life clowning provides. This pastiche of elements will support and challenge participants’ understandings of the multidisciplinarity essential to creative, multi-modal collaboration. Throughout this process, participants will have opportunities to: compose music and characters, develop rich moments of physicality, interrogate notions of what is possible in dramatic play with youth (and adults), engage in physical and musical reflective activities, and gather tools and techniques applicable and interpretable in their own practice.
